Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday said those who carry out attack on temples are certainly miscreants and enemies of all.

“In present days, those who attack on temples have no political identity. Their only identity is miscreant and they are enemies of all,” he told the inaugural ceremony of Janmashtami procession at Palashi intersection in the capital.

Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said the government is also taking actions against temple attackers.

He said the AL never seeks support of any foreign country to sustain in power as people are the source of power of the party. Awami League’s root is very deep in this soil, he mentioned.

Pointing to the Hindu community members, the minister said: “You never consider yourself as minority. You have equal rights. We always stayed with you in the past. We still stay with you and will do so in future, too”.

He said the BNP is the patron of communal politics, “so, remain alert about them.”

Noting that Bangladesh has very good relations with neighboring countries, he said longstanding issues including exchange of enclaves have been settled with India through talks with the Indian prime minister.

Progress in few more issues is in the offing as some issues can be resolved in September, he hoped.
