The main building of a technical school & college is being construction at Darabohar of Dhaka Dakkin under Golapganj upazila in Sylhet after cutting hill, posing the environment and students life under threat of landslide.

The Golapganj Technical School and College was founded on 1.5 acre of hilly  land with the financial support of UK expatriates. Former Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid laid the foundation stone of the school building in 2018.

Nojrul Hakim, an executive engineer of Sylhet education department, said that the school building is being built at risky area.

Altaf Hussain, former DD of Sylhet environment office, said that they asked the school authority not to cut hill before construction of the school building in 2018.  At that time, he asked Rasel Numan, an official of the department, to investigate the matter. But surprisingly he was shifted to the other place.

Local UNO Mamunur Rahman said that he don’t know about the matter.

When asked about the hill cutting for building the school, Israth Zahan Panna, newly appointed DD of Sylhet environment office, said, ‘I know nothing about the matter.’

Acting deputy commissioner of Sylhet Mahbubur Rahman echosed the same as Panna.
