A teacher was killed after being struck by an engine of Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree express while he was walking through the rail line of Baghoil area of Pakshi under Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sirajul Islam Babu, 45, headmaster of Baghoil Child Care Kindergarden in Pakshi. He lived at Baghoil village. He left a son, a daughter and a wife. He was the General Secretary of Ishwardi upazila Kindergarten Association and Director of Baghoil child care Kindergarten. Lutfur Rahman, President of Upazila kindergarten association and Jubair Arifin, Sub-inspector of Ishwardi railway station confirmed the matter.
They said Sirajul Islam was a diabetic patient. For that reason he used to walk every morning. Yesterday, he left home for morning walk after completing Fazr prayer. He was walking through the railline around 7.30am. At that time an engine of Dhaka-kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Expresshit him from behind. Suddenly he felt beside the railline and wounded at head and died on the spot.
Jubair Arifin, Sub-inspector of Ishwardi railway station said after getting information we went to recover the body. The body will hand over after completing autopsy.
