To mark Bangabandhu’s birth centenary, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a state-owned business enterprise, will begin commodity selling programme from tomorrow (Wednesday) at a low and subsidized price with an objective to keep the price of essentials stable before the holy month of Ramadan.
“The TCB will start selling commodities from March 17 at a subsidized rate throughout the country including Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan cities,” said a TCB press release on Monday.
This programme will be operated in all district headquarters and upazilas through the dealers.
Edible oil, sugar, lentils and onions will be sold in 400 trucks across the country. There will be 80 trucks at different points in Dhaka city while Chattogram will have 20 trucks.
The possible selling spots of the capital are -- Khilkhet Bazar, Uttar Badda Bazar, Malibagh Bazar, Hatirpool Bazar, Mouchak Fortune Market, Ananda Cinema Hall, Savar Bazar, Secretariat Gate, Jatrabari Bazaar, Ittefaq intersection, Shantinagar Bazaar, Shajahanpur Bazaar, Khamarbari Farmgate, Mirpur-14, Kochukhet, Mirpur-1 Mazar Road, Shyamoly intersection or NAM Garden, Uttara, Abdullahpur, Vikarunnesa gateno-10/Eastern Housing gate, Begunbari, Mothijheel govt colony, Bhasantek Bazaar, Madya Badda, Palasy/ Chapra Mosque, Jigatola/Dhanmondi govt colony, Rampura Bazaar, Mathertek/Nandipara/Krishibank, Adabar/Monsurabad, Bangla College, Shah Saheb Math Azimpur Bottala, Ashkona Hazi Camp, Basabo Bazaar, Azampur, DC office, Satarkul, Bangladesh Bank, Mirpur-2/Mirpur-12, Matuail/Siddirganj, ECB/Kalshi, Gabtoli/Technical, Kaptan Bazar, Soarighat/Nobabganj section, Banosree Bazaar, Kalmilata Bazaar, Kawran Bazaar, Dilkuhsa, Meradia Bazaar, Nippon Bottala, Khilgaon Taltoala, Mugda, New Market, Tongi Bazar, Sanir Akhra, Bosila, Kamrangirchar Loharpool, Sarulia Bazaar, Gangi Bazaar, 60-feet Bhanga Mosjit, Gupibagh Khokon Community Center and Gulshan Bhatara bazaar.
The first phase will continue till March 31 and on the occasion of the holy Ramadan TCB will launch second phase month-long commodity selling program from April 1 to May.
