Taliban in deep crisis

Despite the dramatic takeover of Taliban fighters in Afghanistan, the militant leaders are facing various problems from home and abroad on the issue of finding a leadership acceptable by all parties.

Taliban leaders have captured all the provinces through deadly violence which killed thousands of Afghans. But till now Taliban leadership failed to reach any consensus on forming an inclusive interim government in Kabul.

However, they are secretly agreeing on some key positions before the formal formation of the government, many of them are still listed as terrorists by many countries including by the United Nations (UN).

As all the foreign troops are scheduled to leave Afghanistan by August 31, the most concerning issue of running the affairs of the Hamid Karzai International Airport connected with the rest of the world still remains to be solved.

The top brass Taliban leaders have informally requested Turkey for provide technical assistance to run Kabul airport after the departure of foreign forces.

Turkey, meanwhile, may not consider the request because the Taliban militants earlier on several occasions had warned Turkey against it’s earlier desire to continue its military deployment for ensuring the security of Kabul airport.

It is very important to keep the operation of the Hamid Karzai International Airport open after foreign forces leave Afghanistan. Otherwise maintaining aid supplies operations would be very difficult.

Another major problem for Taliban is to properly deal with other global Islamist terrorist outfits like Islamic States and al-Qaeda, which once used Afghan territories as their safe places.

Most of western countries have already warned their citizens who are still in Afghanistan, not to gather near the Kabul airport fearing a high risk of militant attack targeting Kabul airport.

Till today, Taliban fighters failed to capture Panjshir Valley. Several thousand anti-Taliban fighters are holding out against the Taliban, which is located only 30 miles from the capital Kabul.

The anti- Taliban fighters in Panjshir Valley have been united under the banner of National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF).

Taliban fighters also tried to take over the valley and they failed in twenty-five years ago. Taliban faced a crushing defeat.

The current situation at the Kabul airport has become dangerous.  Food and water were being sold at excessive prices at the airport. One bottle of water is selling for $40 and plate of rice for $100, and not Afghani (currency) but dollars. That is out of reach for common people.

Thus, Taliban leaderships are facing other so many problem including economic crisis, humanitarian crisis and brain drain as most of the  skilled and experts Afghans already left the country to save their lives from the hands of Taliban fighters.

So, it is still uncertain whether Taliban would able to smoothly run the country in future.
