Sylhet Press Club members’ children get edn scholarship

‘A beautiful city can be built if we give our children good education. Our children are very intelligent. They need a suitable environment for studying. They want to grow up. We have to create fair environment of education for them’, said Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Ariful Haque Chowdhury.

He said theise while addressing as the chief guest at a distribution programme of education scholarship-2019 at Sylhet Press Club on Sunday. The Press Club arranged the event to provide scholarship 30 children of its members.  

Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that a person could be succeeded if he/she gave effort. Some boys work in broad day light and participate in the class of night school of Sylhet City Corporation. However, many completed Masters Degree from there. They will sit for the BCS exam in the future. Modernization of this school is going to be start very soon.

President of Sylhet Press Club Ekramul Kabir presided over the meeting while its general secretary Iqbal Mahmud delivered the welcome speech.

The Press Club’s publication secretary Khaled Ahmed moderated the event, while it was attended, among others, by professor of Sociology Department of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) Dr Ismail Hossain, senior vice president of Sylhet Press Club Enamul Haque Juber, vice president M A Hannan, former vice presidents Abdul Quader Tapader, Ataur Rahman Ata and Muhammad Amjad Hossain, former general secretary Abdur Rashid Md Renu, and senior journalist Kamkamur Rajjak Ronu.
