Swechasebak League’s 26th founding anniversary today

The 2thth founding anniversary of Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League (BASL) will be observed today.

The BASL was founded on July 26 in 1994 as an associate body of the ruling Awami League as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Because of the Global pandemic and ongoing flood situation, this year the celebration will be slightly different.

The president of the organisation Nirmal Ranjan Guha, General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu said, “Every year, we joyfully celebrate our founding anniversary like one big family. However, this year, things are different. We cannot celebrate this happy occasion in the same manner we used to, but the united fight against Covid-19 must carry on, including social distancing.

As part of the programme, the national and party flags was hoisted at all the BASL offices at the central, district, upazila, city and ward levels at 7:30 am.

Besides, rich tributes were paid at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi road no-32 at8:30 am.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address her speech through teleconference in the evenimg.

Moreover, foods will be distributed among the destitutes across the country.
