The Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement to organise a nationwide "Shaheedi March" today to remember the martyrs who lost their lives following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina regime on August 5.
The march is taking place exactly one month after the AL regime was overthrown by the student-people's movement.
Sarjis Alam, a coordinator of the movement, made the announcement at a press conference held at the TSC auditorium on Wednesday.
Sarjis stressed the importance of honouring those who sacrificed their lives. "We are holding this march to commemorate the martyrs. We invite all families of the fallen to join us. We aim to create a nationwide movement. The march will start at the Raju Memorial Sculpture at 3:00 PM."
In the capital, the march route will include Raju Memorial Sculpture, New Market, Dhanmondi, Manik Mia Avenue, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbagh, and will end at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Student leaders also issued a warning against illegal activities. Abu Baker Majumder, another coordinator, urged the public to report anyone engaging in extortion, violence, or misbehaviour.
"Those involved in the killing will not be spared," added Abu Baker. Bangladesh will take on the shape that its people desire. Nationwide reorganisation of the anti-discrimination student movement is planned. Preventing corruption and extortion will be the goal, he added.
Additionally, a fact-finding committee will be established to investigate those responsible for firing on protesters, according to the student leaders.
