Stocks witness flat as large-cap issues tumble

Stock markets on Wednesday finished the session of the week flat as the major indices of the both Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges showed no significant rise amid lower activities of large-cap securities.

The benchmark index of the Dhaka bourse closed the day with 0.45 point down at 6,310.63. But the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 closed the day with 1.89 point up at 1,361.64 and with 1.88 point up at 2,140.89.

Out of 322 issues traded, 77 closed lower, 78 advanced and 167 issues remained unchanged on the DSE floor.

The major gaining issues were ARAMITCEM, CRYSTALINS, KBPPWBIL, DGIC and LEGACYFOOT. The major losing companies were STANDARINS, TILIL, NORTHRNINS, MEGHNALIFE and EMERALDOIL.

 The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with slightly upward trend with its major CASPI 8.72 points up at 18,672.12.

At CSE, 160 issues were traded. Of those, 52 closed higher and 45 closed lower when 44.50 lakh shares worth Taka 27.84 crore changed hands.
