‘Sona Babu’ to be sold at Tk 15 lakh

With pitch-black skin and parts of white abdomen and head, a nine-feet tall and five-feet high bull named Sona Babu has been charged a price of Taka 1.5 million( Taka fifteen lakh) to sell.  Zainab Begum, a housewife of Tangail, has raised this Frisian variety of bull with utmost care. Zainab Begum wants to sell Sonababu during this Eid-ul-Adha.

Zainab Begum is wife of expatriate Kamrul Islam of Fazilhati Bot tola village in Tangail's Delduar upazila. For three and a half years, she has been raising Sonababu at her shed. Husband Kamrul Islam has migrated to Singapore three years ago. From then, Zainab with the help of her mother-in-law  has been raising the bull.

Zainab Begum informed, though large in size, Sona Babu is calm in temperament. Sonababu eats about five kilogramme of food including wheat, gram, bran, flour,rice, oilcake and straw every day. So far no medicine or injection has been applied to Sonababu according to the advice of the Upazila Animal Husbandry Department officials. Sonababu weighs about 35 maunds now, so she wants to sell it during the Eid. Many people are coming to watch the bull. Some have also want to purchase it for Taka five to six lakh but Zianab will not sell it below Taka 15 lakh.

Upazila Animal Husbandry Officer Enayet Karim said the bull weighs about 35 maunds. The Upazila Livestock Department is regularly rendering necessary advice to rear the bull. He added, though Corona Pandemic is continuing, he hoped the housewife would be able to sell Sonababu at the desired price during the upcoming Eid ul Adha.
