Siddons wants big innings from batsmen

Jamie Siddons took over as the batting coach of Bangladesh in the new term with the series against Afghanistan in February this year. There, the Australian coach saw the batsmen of Bangladesh ODI and T20 teams. He then had the opportunity to work with the Test batsmen for the first time on a tour of South Africa.

Siddons wants to use the experience of working with the batsmen of the Bangladesh team in these two series to fix the future course of action. The success of the Bangladesh team in the ODIs is giving him hope, as well as the batting of the Tests. For now, the goal of this batting coach of Bangladesh is to improve in some places in the upcoming two Test series against Sri Lanka.

"We have to learn to bat for a long time in Tests," Siddons said. ODI cricket is going well. But we have to improve in the Tests. 'Where are the areas for improvement, Siddons said,' We lose wickets quickly. The wickets fell in pairs. Sometimes we lose 3-4 wickets in a moment. The boys have to focus on batting for a long time. '

Citing the example of the South Africa series, Siddons said, "We got out there by scoring 30-40-50. Couldn't turn them into a bigger innings. Centuries have to be made, big centuries. We have to do that to win Test matches. "

If the batsmen can play big innings in time, the team will also get big score. Only then is it possible to put pressure on the opponent. "We're scoring 300-350," Siddons said. It has to be taken to 400-450 runs. Only then will the opposition be under pressure. '

The cricketers are now waiting to take the field ahead of the two-Test series against Sri Lanka starting on May 15. Dimuth Karunaratne's team will set foot in Dhaka on May 8. The Bangladesh team will go to Chattogram, the venue of the first Test, on the same day. The practice will start on May 9. The cricketers of the Test team are scheduled to leave for Dhaka by the end of Eid holiday on Saturday. Siddons, however, has already reached Dhaka. The rest of the coaching staff, including head coach Russell Domingo, are due to arrive Saturday evening.
