Ship worker hacked to death in N’ganj

A worker of an anchored ship was allegedly hacked to death and two others were injured by their colleagues in Shitalakshya River at Mahmud Nagar area of Narayanganj’s Bandar upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Titon Sardar, 36, a worker of MV New Tak-4,  

son of Sattar Sardar from Lohagara upazila of Narail while the injured were its master Taijul, its cook Mosaraf. Taijul underwent treatment at Narayanganj General Hospital and Mosaraf was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Sources said a brawl broke out among the laborers of MV New Tak-4 that carried raw materials of Cemex Cement Bangladesh Limited. 

At one stage, Worker Sobuj and his brother attacked others with sharp weapons and stabbed then indiscriminately, injuring three severely.

Colleagues rescued the injured and took them to Narayanganj Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Titon dead. Following the incident, slain Titon's brother-in-law filed a murder case against four people with Bandar Police Station.

Officer-in-charge of Bandar police Fakruddin Bhuiya said they asked the River Police to look into the matter.
