Shib Shankar wins Nabinagar municipal polls

Awami League candidate Advocate Shib Shankar Das has won in the polls to Nabinagar municipality.  

The total voter number in 12 centre among 9 wards is 36,764. Shib Shankar Das with electoral symbol boat bagged 6,725 votes, while his rival independent candidate Main Uddin Mainu secured 4,220 votes.

This is the first time Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) voting was introduced in that area.

It is mentionable that, since 1999 no AL candidate has won the municipal election as a Mayor in Nabinagar.

However, former general secretary of BNP Md Molai Miah acted as municipal administrator from 2003 to 2008 in Nabinagar municipal.

In 2014, vice-president of BNP Mohammad Mainuddin Mainu became the first Municipal Mayor of Nabinagar upazila.

Winner Adv Shib Shankar Das said party and people win this Nabinagar municipal election.
