Chattogram Zilla Parishad organized a discussion meeting to celebrate the 73rd birth anniversary of Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, prominent sports organizer and martyred freedom fighter on Friday at the temporary office of the Zilla Parishad.  Chattogram Zilla Parishad Administrator and North District Awami League President MA Salam was the chief guest on the occasion.  Chief Executive Officer Shabbir Iqbal presided over the function.

MA Salam said, Sheikh Kamal was a student leader, a brave freedom fighter, a cultural worker, a sports organizer and a player.  He made a heroic contribution in the mass uprising of 1969 and the great liberation war of 1971.  After independence, he established Abhani Krirachakra and contributed immensely to take the country's football, cricket and hockey to the international level.  He was also the main organizer of Spandan Shilpi group.  Unfortunately, on that dark night of August 15, 1975, he was the first victim of miscreants. Chattogram Zilla Parishad Executive Officer Md. Didarul Alam, Chief Engineer Mohammad Monirul Islam, former member of Hathajari Upazila Awami League Sheikh Golam Mostafa and Zilla Parishad officials were present at the event.
