Bangladesh ace-allrounder Shakib Al Hasan has undergone a fitness test on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium. However, the team management and selectors are currently waiting to receive the report to make him available for the Dhaka Test.

Shakib suffered a hamstring injury at the end of the fourth over during Bangladesh's third match in the Super 12 against the West Indies in the T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the development to Cricfrenzy.

“Shakib has given a fitness test today. He has shown much improvement. Now we will send the report to the team management, they will make the final decision,” said Debashish.

Regarding Shakib's performance, BCB selector Habibul Bashar said, "If Shakib is fit, he will definitely play. There is no doubt about his skill. We are currently waiting for the report. Only then can I be sure,”

Shakib missed the three-match T20 series and the first Test match which is being played at the Chattogram, Shakib might return to the Dhaka test which is set to be played on December 4.

Meanwhile, Taijul Islam, Bangladesh spinner, was unstoppable against Pakistan on Sunday, bowling the visitors out for a seven-wicket haul in only two sessions to drag Bangladesh back into the first Test at Chattogram.

Taijul handled the main spin department’s responsibility sans Ace Shakib Al Hasan very well as he said at the end of the third day's play, he had to take the duty of picking up the wicket along with economical bowling in Shakib’s absence.

'Since Shakib bhai is not available, so I had to play the role of Shakib Bhai. There is also a pressure of run check, there is also a pressure of taking wickets. This is the role I have to play. You have to take wickets and check runs at the same time,” Taijul said after the 3rd day’s play.
