After issuing an official letter signed by Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner, senior officials of all crime divisions have already started to seat in the police stations, to ensure easy access of the mass people. DMP headquarters are also closely monitoring whether the new order of the DMP boss are being carried out properly.

Responding to a question, the chief of DMP’s Ramna Division said, “Actually we want to ensure that mass people do not feel fear to enter the police stations whenever they need their service.”

Sometimes ordinary people feel hesitant to go to police for seeking their help. Sometimes they cannot talk to the concerned police officials for discussing about the case which were filed in the police station. They have also started seating in the police station as per their duty rosters.” Responding to a question, he said, “Basically we want to enhance the confidence of mass people toward our police stations.”

Senior officers are going to the police stations on a routine basis. Seeing these new trends, people are getting their confidence back on police that they will get justice.” Talking to Bangladesh Post, Joint Commissioner ( Crime) Shaikh Nazmul Alam said, “ We are monitoring whether the order of the DMP Commissioner is being carried out properly.”

Responding to a question, the senior DMP officer said, “We came to know that our senior officials of all the crime divisions are seating in the police stations for a specific period.” They are taking measures after receiving complaints, JC Nazmul claimed. Earlier the newly appointed Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Shafiqul Islam has issued orders to the Deputy Commissioners (DC) of Metropolitan area to sit in the police stations (PS) to ensure hassle free services to the people.

On Sept 16, the DMP Commissioner has issued a letter to the DCs of crime department of the Metropolitan area to seat at the PS.To minimize suffering of the service seekers they have been directed to seat at the PS for at least 2 to 3 hours in a week. The DMP Commissioner in the letter has mentioned that often it is alleged that a large number of service seekers are deprived of getting due services. It is alleged that such offences are not taken into cognizance; rather undue delay is being made.

It is also alleged that the service seekers are being deprived of their rightful legal services instead they face hassles. The zonal ACs and ADCs will monitor the new directive. In the directive it has been further mentioned that the DCs within their jurisdiction will give time every week and listen to the service seekers directly.
