A second grader was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Raghurampur village in Sadar upazila of Jashore district on Monday.
She is a 2ndgrader student of Vekutia Government Primary School.
The incident came to light on Tuesday when the girl's mother filed a case with Jashore Kotwali Police Station in this connection, said Nazmul Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of the police station.
The accused was identified as Abdul Mamun, 20, son of Abdul Jalil is a resident of Raghurampur village in the Upazila. Victim's mother, while talking to Bangladesh Post said Mamun raped the girl in a garden adjacent to their house in the afternoon while she was playing.
Hearing screams, the locals rushed to the spot and rescued her daughter, she said, adding that they could not capture the rapist.
Shahabur Rahman, investigating officer, said that victim’s mother filed a case with police station. We are conducting drive to arrest the accused, he added.
