Mim, a seventh grade student, was saved from child marriage due to the intervention of the administration at Santoshpur village of Jivannagar upazila. At 10:30 pm on Tuesday, members of Jibannagar police arrived at the wedding house and stopped the child marriage.

Locals said Hasem Ali of Begumpur village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila was scheduled to get married on Monday to Mim, 13, a seventh-grade student of Uthli Secondary Girls' School, a minor daughter of Milon Hossain of Halsana Para in Santoshpur village. The girl's parents secretly decided to carry the marriage on Monday night due to her young age. They also finished cooking at 8 pm to entertain the bride and groom. The bride and groom arrived at the wedding house around 9 pm.

Meanwhile, the neighbors informed the Jivannagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Jivannagar Police about the child marriage on their mobile phones.

Upon receiving the news, two sub-inspectors of Jibannagar police arrived at the wedding house around 10:30 pm. The bride and groom fled when they sensed the presence of the police.

After being informed about the evils of child marriage by the police, the girl's father Milon Hossain promised not to marry her until she is an adult.
