A school teacher was held on charge of violating a Class Seven student of Jashore Balia-Vekutia Secondary School on Tuesday night.
The detainee was identified as Yusuf Ali, 48, Assistant Teacher of Balia-Vekutia Secondary School of Jashore Sadar.
The student and her mother complained that the victim sit for the half-yearly examination of English subjects on Tuesday. After end of the examination, she went to washroom at about 12:30 pm.
There, the teacher Yusuf Ali tried to rape her while the students make her able to flee the spot and she took shelter to Shahjahan's house beside the school.
Later, the accused teacher followed to her home and apologized for his work. But the locals beat up Yusuf.
Yusuf Ali regularly offered her to visit his house. But the girl did not respond to the proposal.
The victim’s mother filed a case against the teacher with the Jashore Kotwali Police station on Wednesday.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station Inspector (Operation) Shamsuddoha said, the police went to the spot and detained the teacher.
Abdul Qadar, headmaster of Balia-Vekutia Secondary School, he has not received any complain officially against the teacher.
