A school-feeding programme will be launched in all government primary schools in July this year, said State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain.
‘This is a gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for kids. A feasibility study on the school feeding programme, held along with the World Food Programme (WFO) will be sent to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) soon,” state minister said this while addressing at a programme on Thursday.
The state minister said the project will play an effective role in addressing nutritional deficiencies of primary school children, 100% enrollment in schools, regular school attendance, prevention of dropouts, and timely completion of education cycle.
Director General of Directorate of Primary and Mass Education Shah Rezwan Hayat, Secretary of the ministry Farid Ahmed and resident representative and country director of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Bangladesh, Dom Scalpelli were also present there.
