A nascent child who survived just five minutes after birth, spoke before death that ‘taking of Black Cumin (Kalojira), Ginger and round-black pepper (Gul-morich) could cure Coronavirus’ is now a hot topic of discussion in Thakurgaon.
As the rumour spread in the district, hundreds of people were now rushing to local markets and grocers to procure those spices to take those as a cure of the disease. The rumour was also spread in Rangpur, Bogura, Gaibandha, Sylhet and some other districts. Many people in the district were advising their relatives and friends over mobile phones to take those spices as an antidote for Corona.
It is learnt, many people at Thakugaon sadar and Baliadangi upazilas are seen to try desperately to collect Black cumin and round-black pepper. Since most of the shops of the upazilas are closed as a precautionary measure to get rid of Coronavirus infection, people were seen to traverse from one corner to another of the markets to procure those.
At the shop of Bakali at Lahirhi Bazaar, a huge stock of black cumin was exhausted as a large number of customers thronged there and purchase the spice. Local people at Gorai Bazaar informed, Black cumin is being sold at an exorbitant price there. Though social media claimed the story of dictation of a five-day aged child as completely false and fabricated, many people were still sticking to such rumour and were busy in procuring those spices and taking those after grounding those.
Soleman Ali of Ghoni Moheshpur village informed after his arrival at home from the work he noticed the female members of the house had kept ready the grounded species and let him administer that just after stepping inside the house. Rafiqul Islam of Kujishara informed all people of the village have consumed the species.
Advocate Momtazur Rahman, Member of District Lawyers' Association in his facebook status said, being cured of Corona by taking black cumin is like a rumour of watching Sayedee on the moon. Local Journalist Harun ur Rashid said, it was absurd that a five-hour aged child would talk and advise someone.
