Former Commerce Minister and BNP leader Amir Khoshru Mahmud Chowdhury has said the relationship between owners and workers must be improved and all other stakeholders have to come forward in resolving the ongoing crisis in the country’s major exporting sector, the RMG industry.
He said this needs to be done for the greater interest of the country’s economy, export promotion and employment of a huge number of workers in this sector.
“We from BNP, as a leading political party, are trying our best to intervene wherever it’s possible to resolve the crisis, even guiding our local leaders and workers to work sincerely in mitigating labor unrest which is now going on mainly in the Savar, Ashulia Gazipur area”, Khosru said while exchanging views with some senior BGMEA leaders and industry owners on Saturday evening at a
city hotel.
“I believe that all the citizen of the country irrespective of party and opinion, have to come forward and help in maintaining peaceful work environment and production because the economy, employment, export growth and survival of all the linkage industries of RMG sector are closely related on this”, Khoshru added.
We all are now planning to build a new Bangladesh but this will not happen unless the industry and economy remains stable and strong. That’s why we all are working, the interim government is also trying its best and other stakeholders are remaining very sincere and cordial. We are extending necessary cooperation to the government as well to the industry owners in this regard. We have asked all our leaders and workers to cooperate the industry owners in maintaining smooth productivity.
We have to keep in mind that not only for survival, the smooth production and working environment is needed rather for further growth and diversification of RMG industry.
“I must thank the industry owners who are making their best efforts, working hard day-night with their able leadership at the same time I must thank workers because it was not impossible to bring the industry to the present position without their contributions”, the BNP leader said.
He further said huge employment opportunity for women has been created in this industry and that has worked tremendously to empowering them and upgrading their life standard in their families as well as in the society, so this must be kept going on.
