Rangpur records 20.29pc Covid-19 positivity Tuesday

Rangpur division recorded 20.29 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 70 fresh cases were reported after testing 345 new samples at two laboratories on Tuesday.

   Health officials said the pandemic situation is showing a deteriorating trend during the last one week after continuing to improve for the last four months in Rangpur division.

   The daily passivity rate is also showing a rising trend as the number of Covid-19 cases continues increasing everyday in recent days.

   Earlier, the daily Covid-19 positivity rates were 17.96 percent on Monday, 19.76 percent on Sunday, 11.31 percent on Saturday, 8.11 percent on Friday, 13.66 percent on Thursday and 10.84 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

   Among the 70 new patients, 21 were reported positive after testing 9157 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) at the 13.38 percent positivity rate on Tuesday.

   "The 21 new patients include 12 from Rangpur, four from Gaibandha, two each from Kurigram and Thakurgaon and one from Nilphamari districts," said Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. Bimal Chandra Roy.

   On the other hand, 49 new patients were reported positive after testing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the 26.06 percent positivity rate today.

   "The 49 new patients include 47 from Dinajpur and one each from Panchagarh and Nilphamari districts," said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain.   

   Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Abu Md. Zakirul Islam said that the total number of Covid-19 patients rose to 56,125 as 70 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

   "The district-wise break up of total 56,125 patients include 12,682 of Rangpur, 3,843 Panchagarh, 4,480 of Nilphamari, 2,782 of Lalmonirhat, 4,659 of Kurigram, 7,725 of Thakurgaon, 15,054 of Dinajpur and 4,900 of Gaibandha in the division," he added.
