RAB rescues abducted child in two days

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Saturday rescued a victim from city’s Kamrangirchor area after two days of his kidnap.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Lt Colonel Khandaker Saiful Alam, commanding officer of RAB-2 confirmed it on Sunday.

According to the family sources, Jubayer Ahmed, 12 was kidnapped on July 15 from Hajaribagh cattle market. Few moments later, the kidnapers called at victim’s father mobile phone and demanded ransom.

They also threatened to kill Jubayer, if their demand of ransom is not realized.

At one stage, victim’s father paid ransom to the kidnappers through mobile banking.

But the kidnappers did not release the victim and demanded more money.

At that stage, he lodged a complaint to RAB-2 authority seeking their cooperation to rescue his son and to arrest the kidnappers.

After getting complain, elite force RAB started shadow investigation into the incident.

Getting secret information, a team of RAB-2 on Saturday evening raided Hajaribagh area and arrested Md Robin, who is the key-suspect of the kidnapping incident.

According to the information, given by arrested kidnaper Robin, RAB raided at Alinagar area under Kamrangirchar area of the capital Dhaka. Later RAB rescued the victim from a house of the area. During the primary interrogation, Robin admitted his involvement in the kidnap.

He also confessed that he took ransom from victim’s father.

A case was filed with the Hararibagh Police Station in this connection. The arrested was handed over to the local police, said ASP Md Fazlul Haque, Assistant Director (Media) of RAB-2.
