The anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a member of banned militant organisation Ansar Al Islam from the city on Friday night.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, ASP Md Fazlur Rahman, Assistant Director of RAB-2 confirmed it.
Getting secret information, a team of RAB raided at Salimullah road in city’s Mohammadpur area on Friday night.
Later the RAB team arrested the militant. The arrested militant was identified as Mehraz Hossain Sourav,19. He hails from Bhola district.
RAB members also seized Jihadist books and leaflets from his possession.
During primary interrogation he admitted that he was a student of a private educational institute in the capital. After claiming the present education system of the country is completely Haram, he left the educational institute. He was planning to leave his home for joining militancy activities very soon.
He was working to establish a so-called Khelafat in Bangladesh.
RAB officials said they found evidences of his involvement in militancy.
Responding to a question, the RAB officer said they will continue raids to arrest his other accomplices.
