RAB arrest seven traffickers, sieze a Takkhak

Rapid Action Battalion on Friday evening  arrested seven traffickers from Darussalam area of the capital.

Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Additional Superintendent of RAB-4 Md Jamir Uddin Ahmed confirmed it on Saturday.

RAB also seized Takkhak.

They were identified as Abdullah Al Mamun,34, Md. Sajib,23, Md. Saiful Islam, 56, Md. Yusuf, 41, Md. Shahabuddin ,39, Md. Anisur Rahman ,48, andMd. Zakir Hossain 42.

Getting secret information a team of RAB-4 led by Additional Superintendent Md Jamir Uddin  raided at Darussalam area in the city on Saturday evening.

During the raid, the elite force arrested the seven traffickers and sized a Takkhak.

Later  RAB led mobile court led by executive magistrate Md. Anisur Rahman sentenced them one month jail and fined Tk 5,000 for each.

During the primary interrogation, the arrested traffickers admitted that they were involved in illegally collecting Takshak from different districts. 

Later they were trafficking these wild animals to abroad. The rescued  Takkhak was later released at the National Botanic Garden in the city

RAB will continue such joint operations to conserve and prevent wildlife trafficking, Adl SP Jamir vowed.
