Punishment for BCL leader’s abductors demanded

Leaders of the Municipal BCL and its affiliates have staged a human chain to protest the abduction of Roni Sheikh, vice-president of the Municipal BCL, at Tungipara in Gopalganj. The human chain was held in front of Tungipara Upazila Parishad at 11 am on Tuesday.

Tanjir Ahmed, Joint-General Secretary of Municipal Awami League, Sheikh Nizamul Haque, Secretary of Sechchasebak League, Sheikh Babul Hossain Khokon, General Secretary of Upazila Chhatra League, Nurul Islam, President of Municipal Chhatra League, Nazmul Haque, Secretary, Ahid Sheikh, Municipal Councilor of Ward 4, Ward Awami League spoke on the occasion. 

Meanwhile, speakers said that Bappi Mallick, son of Tutul Mallick of Mulsri village in Naragati upazila, abducted Chhatra League leader Rony Sheikh from Tungipara on Friday and tried to beat and kill him. 

Rony’s relatives rescued him from there around 11 pm. Later, the relatives of the victim went to the Tungipara police station to lodge a complaint in this regard, but no complaint has been lodged with the police station so far due to invisible reasons, the victim's relatives told the media. 

Therefore, it was demanded that Bappi Mallick, the mastermind of the abduction, be arrested and brought under the law. Later, the leaders submitted a memorandum of complaint to Tungipara Upazila Chairman Mohammad Solaiman Biswas and Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Nakib Hasan Tarafdar.
