A prisoner died in the jail of Brahmanbaria on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Yunus Ali, 32, son of Rafiq Fakir of Lohagara village under Manid union at Akhaura upazila in the district. He was arrested on January 10 in a drug case.
Jail Super Md. Nurunnabi Bhuiyan said that Yunus’s father handed him over to the police. His younger brother Khalil is also in the jail in a drug case.
Khalil's wife met her husband and Yunus in the jail on Friday. They discussed various issues. After some time, Yunus felt chest pain. As his condition deteriorated, he was taken to the Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead.
