The government is going to undertake a special project involving Tk 2,500 crore for developing rural infrastructure and the quality of life for rural people in three key districts.

The project titled, “Development of Important Rural Infrastructure in Cumilla, Brahmanbaria and Chandpur districts” will be implemented for increasing the transportation facilities of villages, markets, health centers, educational institutions and other service providers.

We hope that the development of rural infrastructure in the region will create employment opportunities, develop tourism industry, increase production of agricultural and non-agricultural products and eventually contribute to and boost the country's GDP growth.

We must develop our rural areas in

a planned way preserving the

environment and biodiversity

More than half of the total population in Bangladesh lives in rural areas. Hence, for ‘inclusive’ development, the government must focus on improving the lives of rural people and we must develop our rural areas in a planned way preserving sustainability and biodiversity.

We believe farmers and rural people in general have the potential to not only become self-sustainable, but to largely contribute to the economic growth of the country. In this regard, the government has to provide them the required support.

It needs no mentioning that poor road network is one of the main reasons stopping growth in rural areas. As most parts of our rural landscape don't have an all-weather road connection, a large section of the country's rural population has still remained isolated from the mainstream, thus depriving themselves of the benefits of the country's economic growth.

For sustainable rural development, developing regional connectivity is a must. Therefore, attaching more importance on developing rural roads has now become more of a necessity for alleviating poverty in rural areas.  An efficient rural road network can play the most important role in improving rural livelihoods.
