Newly appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner M Shafiqul Islam on Sunday said every police station under the purview of DMP will be monitored by senior officer concerned round the clock for ensuring quality service for citizens, reports BSS.

“I myself will sit in the police station as officer-in-charge if situation demands to ensure pro-people and desired service. I will talk to the people of every police station and take initiative to solve their problem,” he stated while addressing a press conference at the media centre of DMP in the capital.

The DMP Commissioner said people who are expecting better service from the police station would be treated cordially. “I sat with the acting office-in-charges (OCs) and deputy-commissioners (DCs) of all the police stations in Dhaka immediately after assuming office,” he said, adding they have been given necessary and strict monitoring instructions.

Steps will be taken to remove the negative perception of police from the mind of common people, he added. Referring to the traffic congestion in the city, he said traffic management will be brought under a tolerable level through stern monitoring. Additional DMP Commissioners Md Monirul Islam, Mir Rezaul Alam, Md Abdul Baten, Krishnapad Roy and Md Mofizul Islam, among others, were present.
