Police recover 37 hand bombs

Police recovered 37 hand bombs from Rudrapur village at Kaiba union in Sharsha upazila of Jashore district on yesterday (Friday) morning allegedly to be used in the upcoming UP elections.

The bombs were hidden in the Barn House of Montu Munshi, a supporter of Kaiba Union Awami League chairman candidate Feroz Hasan Tinku.

According to the police, after receiving information from a secret source, it was led by SI Mostafizur Rahman of Sharsha police station; a team of police raided the barn house of Montu Munshi in Rudrapur village and recovered 37 hand bombs. 

The bombs were brought to the police station and kept in water. Senior officials have been informed to deactivate the bombs. 

Independent chairman candidate of Kaiba Union Altaf Hossain said, Montu Munshi is a supporter of Feroz Hasan Tinku, the current chairman and candidate for the boat symbol.

Police recovered the bombs from his home.

Awami League chairman candidate Firoz Hasan Tinku said, Supporters of independent candidates put the bombs to Montu Munshi's barn house. Montu Munshi is not involved in this connection. UP elections will be held on November 28 in 10 unions of Sharsha Upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station Badrul Alam Khan said, Thirty-seven abandoned hand bombs were recovered from a barn house in Rudrapur village. High officials has informed to defuse the bombs. Following the investigation, legal action will be taken against those involved.
