Police box attacked at Chakaria

A group of terrorists led by a cannabis trader attacked a traffic police box at Chakaria in Cox's Bazar. The incident took place at Chiringa Old Bus Station in Chakaria Municipality around 11 am on Saturday. Traffic police sergeant Ferdous Alam Chowdhury was injured in the attack. He has taken first aid at Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.

According to eyewitnesses, at around 11 am, a shopkeeper named Md. Belal was beaten by cannabis trader Mansur Alam, his wife Hasina Begum, elder brother Ashek Ahmed, Habib Ullah and Aman Ullah with a stick at around 11 am. At that time, he took refuge in the traffic police box next to him to escape the beating. When the police stopped them, the criminals also beat the police.

Some eyewitnesses, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the criminals traded cannabis around the police box. There is a drug case against them in the police station. Mashiur Rahman, a traffic inspector in Chakaria municipality, said he had heard of a sergeant being injured in a criminal attack at a police box. 

The OC of the police station has been informed about this. A case has been registered in this regard at Chakaria police station.
