PM working to turn Lalmonirhat into an economic zone

Social Welfare Minister Alhaj Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to turn the northern frontier district of Lalmonirhat into an effective economic zone, reports BSS.

“All of us should have to work together to flourish industries and factories to create jobs for unemployed youths to further accelerate the pace of national advancement on way the highway of development to build a developed Bangladesh by 2041,” he said.

The Minister said this while addressing a function after launching of the month-long ‘Lalmonirhat Industry and Trade Fair- 2019’ by cutting ribbon on Collectorate ground in Lalmonirhat district town on Thursday afternoon as the chief guest.

Lalmonirhat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is arranging the event to promote local entrepreneurship, enterprises, industries and production of quality goods and introduction of produced quality goods for expanding trade, commerce and export.

Private sector local male and female entrepreneurs, industries and organisations and foreign companies and industries, including from China, have set up 80 stalls on the fairground displaying their products for sales.

The Minister said the fair would play an important role in creating new entrepreneurs and enhance quality of the handicraft industries of Lalmonirhat district along with creating opportunity for entertainment of the people of Rangpur region as a whole.

He said, “We do now want division, but unity of all. This is for the first time such a beautiful fair has been organized in the district. Let us extend our all-out cooperation to make the fair a success.”

The urged local industrialists and entrepreneurs for availing the facilities being provided by the present government to flourish industrialisation and trade and create huge jobs for local unemployed people

to improve their socioeconomic conditions.

Presided over by LCCI President Md. Sirajul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Md. Abu Jafar, District Council Chairman Advocate Matiar Rahman, Police Super SM Rashidul Haque and Lalmonirhat municipal Mayor Reazul Islam Rintu, among others, addressed the function.
