Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Awami League government are ready to introduce “every measure” at their disposal to make the “entrepreneurial revolution” a reality in Bangladesh, one of her aides said.

Special Assistant Barrister Shah Ali Farhad said this while referring to the prime minister’s ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy who often tells youths: “We may have come this far, i.e. a lower middle income developing country, on the back of mostly public sector jobs, specific professional fields and some very recognisable industries. But to reach the next level of our development goals, i.e., a high income developed country, there is no alternative to an entrepreneurial revolution across Bangladesh”.

“And from the Prime Minister and the AL Govt, we are ready to introduce every measure at our disposal to make that revolution a reality,” Barrister Farhad said while taking a session on ‘Inclusive Policies for an Innovation Driven Economy’ as part of the UNIBATOR initiative’s ‘Mentor Development Camp’ organised jointly by the Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority (Under ICT Division, Bangladesh) and the Institution of Engineers (IEB)’s Dhaka Centre.

The twenty invited participants were all faculty members of various public universities of Bangladesh.

Barrister Farhad’s session was focused on how the Awami League government, led by Sheikh Hasina and guided by her ICT Advisor Sajeeb Wazed is prioritising ICT, innovation and entrepreneurship development, especially among the youth.

From policies and laws, to intellectual property and funding for R&D, they discussed a wide range of issues.
