‘Plastic-free week’ observed at RU

“Plastic free week challenge and plogging” was observed at Rajshahi University on Wednesday to make people aware of the danger of plastic pollution for the ecological balance on earth and to encourage people of avoiding use of disposable plastic goods in the daily life.

In collaboration of Sweden Alumni Network Bangladesh, RU Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (ACCE) department organized the event. Marking the day, a discussion meeting was arranged where ACCE department head professor Dr. Ibrahim Hossain Mondol and Professor Dr. Sayed M.A. Salam spoke.

Besides, the department brought out a colorful rally from Dr. Muhammad Qudrat-i-Khuda academic building around 11 am. The rally paraded main streets of the campus and terminated the same place. 

Later, the all of participants amassed several wastes in front of the building.

ACCE department professor Mohammad Taufiq Alam, associate professor Aneek Krishna Karmakar, associate professor Saiful Islam, assistant professor Khairul Islam and ACCE group president Mehedi Hasan, general secretary Anirban Sreeman and publication affairs secretary Ashis Sutradhar including hundred students, teachers, officials were also present, among others, on the occasion.
