As part of the Green Premises project, Pcycle launched a campus cleaning program at Jahangirnagar University School and College. Being a waste management model school, the institution cooperated with us for cleaning the campus.
During the campaign, the students of the institution participated and got hands-on experience in cleaning the premises. The aim of the campaign was to facilitate the students to clean the premises and keep the environment very clean and breathable. The session also helped them understand the necessity.
At the beginning of the session, the students of the institutions went through an evaluation process based on the learnings of the previous session. They were given hand gloves, face masks and trash bags at the beginning of the campaign to put their waste into it. The trash bags were separated for biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.
They were so curious and enthusiastic about the campaign, and they gladly participated in the program actively. Around 150 students joined the campaign and appreciated it. Many of them talk about the campaign, for example, one said, "the campus cleaning campaign is awesome because it'll lead us to keep our premises clean and make our environment more livable".
One of the senior teachers of the institution said, "it’s a great idea to have this type of campaign. Our students learned how to collect waste separately and put them in different places by cleaning up their premises. This will make them more responsible about their surroundings and environment."
The campaign ended up giving a participation gift for all of them who participated in the campaign. This program will influence the whole Institute as members of Pcycle expect. And at the last, the Pcycle members handed over the collected waste to the Jahangirnagar University Waste Management Project. The waste will be decomposed and processed accordingly as per the officials.
Before this premises cleaning campaign, Pcycle had organized an introductory session on waste management on 27th February 2023. In the next week, Pycle, further, will organize another session on waste management and climate action with an art competition.
