Over 25 vehicles torched, many other vandalised during BNP-Jamaat’s 48-hour blockade

Over 25 vehicles were set on fire and many other were vandalised by BNP-Jamaat cadres at different places in the capital city and elsewhere in the country during their ongoing 48-hour blockade starting from Sunday morning.

They torched vehicles at Dulistan, Gazipur, Bogura, Khulna and different other places till 4:00 on Monday.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Fire Service said a total of 18 arson incidents were reported across the country from 4am on Sunday to 10 am on Monday.

Of these, 10 arson attacks were reported in Dhaka City Corporations, said Talha-Bin-Jasim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense media cell on Monday.

The fire official said that a total of 14 incidents of arson were reported in Dhaka division, and 4 in Chattogram division.

A total of 13 buses, two trucks, one private car, one CNG auto-rickshaw, and one human hauler were torched during this period.

Thirty-six units of fire service and civil defense and 216 firefighters were engaged to extinguish the blazes, added the fire officer.
