Online classes start for 11th graders

Blended learning to be introduced in future

Online classes for the newly admitted students of class XI under the 2020-21 academic session started on Sunday.

Education Minister Dipu Moni inaugurated the online classes as the chief guest at awebinar in Dhaka while Deputy Minister for Education Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury was present as the special guest.

Inaugurating the classes, Dipu Moni said, “The use of technology has changed the entire world a lot. We are now in the age of 4th industrial revolution where artificial intelligence, robotics and use of technology have been shaping the world rapidly. The change will be faster in the coming days. So our students must adapt the change.”

“Blended learning approach will be introduced across the country in future… The distance learning will be continued even after the pandemic goes away. We are working to redesign the entire education system. Considering the future demand, we are giving the utmost importance on technical education,” she added.

“This pandemic has brought us the opportunity to utilize the technology. We now conductour programmes through online, it is also a benefit of Digital Bangladesh,” she said.

Addressing the students, Dipu Moni said, “Those who are now in the class XIwill go to university in next two years. Don’t study only to get a certificate. You will have the opportunity to use your present study for at most 5 years. By then, situation will change a lot. Using the best of times, you must update yourself.”

Hosted by Dhaka College Principal Nehal Ahmed, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Division Mahbub Hossain, Technical and Madrasa Education Secretary Md Aminul Islam Khan, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Dr Syed Md Golam Faruk, and Chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee and Chairman of Dhaka Education Board Professor Ziaul Haque were also present as special guests.

The online admission process for XI class students started on August 9 and ended on September 17 this year.
