A Chapainawabganj court on Sunday sentenced one person to life term imprisonment and fined him Taka one lakh, one year more in default.
The convicted person was identified as Mozammel Hoque Kalu Member, 55, son of late Giasuddin of Barorasia village under Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, reports BSS.
Chapainawabganj district and session judge Md. Shawkat Ali gave this verdict in presence of the convict. According to the prosecution story, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp, on secret information raided the house of Mozammel Hoque Kalu Member and arrested him with 1,550 grams of heroin on October 20, 2017 at around 7:30 am.
Sub-inspector Majed Ali of RAB-5, Chapainawabganj camp filed a case against him with Chapainawabganj Sadar model thana on the same day under Narcotics Control Act. The investigation officer of the case Inspector (Investigation) Md. Atiqul Islam of Chapainawabganj Sadar thana submitted charge sheet to the court accusing Mozammel Hoque on February 28, 2018. After hearing ten witnesses, the court handed down the verdict.
