All the government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, reopened in Rajshahi with low attendance of staff after a five-day Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, including two-day weekend, reports BSS.

Attendance at the City Bhaban, the offices of divisional commissioner and deputy commissioner, Rail Bhaban, water development board, sericulture building, RAKUB headquarters, RDA Bhaban, Barendra Bhaban, RMP headquarters and Roads and Highway building was thin as more than half of the officers and employees did not return.

Officials said this situation would continue for the next couple of days. The offices and courts will get back their old look within the next few days.

However, some people were seen rushing to their respective offices to dispose off their pending urgent works on the opening day today.

Meanwhile, a festive mood is prevailing at most of the offices. Officials and employees were seen exchanging Eid greetings and hugging one another.

The people who went to their village homes to celebrate the Eid with their relatives have started to return to the city to join work.

City streets still remain free from the usual traffic jam.

Many people, especially the teenagers, are still enjoying the festivity of the Eid in the city.

They were seen visiting the amusement spots, especially the bank of the river Padma, with enthusiasm and joy.

Braving the scorching heat and sultry weather, thousands of people, especially children, poured in and around the city’s parks, historic places and other recreational centres to enjoy the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
