Aiming at 100 per cent coverage of electric supply on the occasion of the Birth Centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Northern Electricity Supply Company Limited (NESCO) inaugurated the off-grid Solar Home Systems at the char villages of Haibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district on December 8 (Tuesday). The SHS is being installed from the own-fund of NESCO.
A discussion meeting was also held on the occasion of the inauguration of the programme.
Presided over by Zakiul Islam, Managing Director of NESCO Limited, the inaugural programme was attended, among others, by Nasrul Hamid MP, State Minister for Electricity, Fuel and Mineral Resources as the chief guest, Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Principal Secretary ( Secretary-in-charge) of the Prime Minister of the Secretariate of the Prime Minister, Valiant Freedom Fighter Motahar Hossain MP, Lalmonirhat-1 constituency, Habibur Rahman, Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity, Fuel and Mineral Resources, AKM Humayun Kabir, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Electricity and Chairman of NESCO Limited as special guests.
