Investigation officer (IO) has not found any new information and accused in further investigation in the case lodged over the death of Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, reports BSS.

The investigation officer of the case and DB inspector Qazi Shariful Islam said this in a report submitted before the court. The case is scheduled to be heard on June 27.

“I was granted permission to further investigate the case on April 30. I have not found any new information, accused or witness over that incident and that is why no supplementary charge sheet was submitted,” Qazi Shariful Islam said.

Earlier on April 25, the detective branch (DB) of police on Monday filed charge sheet against owner, driver, conductor and helper of Suprobhat Paribahan in the case lodged over the death of Abrar.

The IO filed two separate charge sheets before Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court. A total of 32 people have made witnesses in the two charge sheets.

Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus in Pragati Swarani area on the morning of March 19, as he was trying to cross the road.

It was learnt later that the same bus earlier on that morning had struck another pedestrian, leaving her seriously injured and crushed Abrar as it was trying to flee the scene after the first incident.

Abrar’s father Brigadier General (retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the bus driver, its helper, conductor and owner of the bus with Gulshan Police Station.

The four accused – bus owner Nani Gopal, driver Sirajul Islam, helper Ibrahim Hossain and conductor Yasir Arafat – have already been arrested and gave confessional statements in the case.
