Chattogram Abahani completed the first phase of their Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) campaign with a win over Muktijoddha SKC at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.
Ctg Abahani, Blue Pirates, survived a scare to notch up a hard-fought 1-0 win over Muktijoddha SKC as forward Nixon Guylherme scored the solitary goal for the team. The striker found the net during the 77th minute of the match after a goalless first half.
The outcome helped the Blue Pirates to climb into the seventh place with 19 points from 12 outings, fifteen points less from the leaders and defending Champions Bashundhara Kings, they collected 34 points from the same number of matches. Muktijoddha SKC earned only nine points, out of 12 matches and it was their eight defeat in the league. Following a disappointed 1-1 draw with Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club on Friday, Ctg Abahani bounced back brilliantly as they edged past Muktijoddha SKC.
To win this match, Ctg Abahani really had to fight hard. Muktijoddha fought till the end but they were unable to find the net. At last Ctg Abahanhi’s Nixon Guylherme clinched the winning goal for his team. It was his seventh goal of the season.
