Natore youth surrenders after killing elder brother

A youth surrendered to police after slaughtering his elder brother in Natore on Tuesday evening.

The victim is Omar Faruk, 40, and the accused younger brother is Shajahan Ali, 35, sons of late Siddique Ali of Jangli village under Natore sadar upazila. Police said that the tragic incident might be an outcome of the family feud.

According to police and locals, on Tuesday afternoon, Omar Faruk had been sitting in front of a tea stall at Jongli village crossing when his brother stabbed him on the neck with a sharp weapon injuring him fatally and managed to escape. Villagers rushed him at first to Natore Sadar Hospital in a critical state.

He was shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 9:00 pm. Omar Faruk was a contractual labourer with Pran-Agro company in Natore.

Meanwhile, after stabbing his elder brother, younger brother Shahjahan Ali surrendered to the police.

Kazi Jalal Uddin, Officer-in-charge of Natore Sadar Police Station, said that the murder might be caused as a sequel of family feud.
