It is startling to note that a number of patients over the last few years have died due to wrong treatment or doctor’s mistake in the operation theatre of some illegal clinics. Sabina, a pregnant woman who died in the operation theatre after giving birth to a baby girl due to the doctor’s mistake at City Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Manikganj recently. diagnostics centers from tomorrow

In Cox’s Bazar, husband and other relatives of a patent were detained at Unique Hospital in Chakoria for three days because they could not pay, despite a law that prohibits the practice. All these hospitals and clinics are not registered with the government. Such scenario has been prevailing at many private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres since long and which why the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) asked the authorities to seal all unauthorized clinics and diagnostic centers across the country by today (Sunday)

The health authority said legal action will be taken against the persons, who are involved with illegally running diagnostic centers and clinics.  According to a notification, four-point guidelines were issued for shutting down unauthorised clinics and diagnostics centers.

The government is set to launch drive against the unauthorised private hospitals, clinics and diagnostics centers from tomorrow (Monday). Many steps were taken earlier in this regard but a section of dishonest people in association with local musclemen are still running clinics and diagnostics centers illegally. Therefore, if the government gets tough on the dishonest syndicate, it will help bring discipline in the private hospitals in our country and ensure better treatment for patients. The government will also have to take an initiative to fix the charges of medical services at private hospitals according to their service standards in a bid to reduce the harassment of patients.
