Moulvibazar’s Amtail Union was declared beggar free on the occasion of ‘Mujib Barsho' on Thursday.
Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Mir Nahid Ahsan made the announcement as the chief guest at a locally organized function at Amtail Union Parishad Auditorium on the day.
It is learned that No. 9 Amtail Union of Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila has been declared free of beggars by creating employment opportunities for 40 beggars as part of the year-long program adopted on the occasion of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Chickens, chicken feed and houses are provided to the beggars for the purpose of creating employment. Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shariful Islam presided over the function.
