MoU between DU and Iwate University, Japan signed

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the University of Dhaka (DU) and Iwate University, Japan was signed on Wednesday at the Vice Chancellor’s (VC) lounge of DU to foster international cooperation in education and research. Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of DU Professor Dr M Imdadul Hoque and Dean of the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences of Iwate University Dr Matsuo Uemura signed the MoU on behalf of their respective university.

VC of DU Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman, Registrar Md Enamuzzaman and Chairmen of different departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences were, among others, present on this occasion. According to the MoU, DU and Iwate University will work together to develop academic and research activities on biological sciences including stress physiology, agro-biosciences, environmental sciences and sustainable agriculture. Besides, the two universities will exchange faculty members and publications. They will conduct joint research and jointly publish papers in scientific journals. The two universities will also jointly organize conferences, seminars, workshops and training programmes.

Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Iwate University authorities for signing this MoU. He hoped that the teachers, students and researchers of these two universities would be benefited by this initiative. He stressed the need for undertaking more collaborative research programs among the renowned universities around the world to upgrade human civilization.
