Hafiz Ifzal Ahmed, a political science student at Sylhet MC College, his mother Asharun Nesha has finally spoke about the death of his son. In a press conference she told that she did not believe Ifzal's death was an untimely death.

She claimed her son has been killed. She demanded further investigation and identification of the killers. She also demanded the case filed at Shahparan police station should be handed over to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) or any other specialised agency.

She wants to draw the attention of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to this issue and sought the attention and cooperation of all concerned departments involved in law and order including DIG, Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner of Sylhet.

Asharun Nesha held a press conference at Sylhet Press Club on Wednesday. Ifzal's cousin Gias Uddin, a bank employee, read out a written statement on her behalf. Ifzal's sister Nasima's brother-in-law and plaintiff Abul Hossain of Shahparan police station were also present at the time.

Although the press conference was originally organised by Ifzal's mother, many inside expressed their displeasure at the presence of Abul Hossain. Many said Abul Hossain tried to intervene by attending the press conference so that Ifzal's mother could not speak fluently.

It may be mentioned that Ifzal Ahmed used to live in his sister's house at Bahar Manzil, No. 3, Road No. 18, Block B, Sylhet. His body was found under the building on the morning of June 25, 2020. An unnatural death case was filed at Shahparan police station on the 26th after the burial.

Friends and classmates of Ifzal Ahmed, neighbors, villagers, people of Kanaighat Upazila and many others are also demanding justice for the death. Many people are vocal about this through various social media in Kanaighat upazila.

Classmates and teachers of Ifzal's college, locals and other various forums have held various programs including human chain to protest the killing and demand justice. Ifzal's mother expressed her gratitude to all of them.
