Monowara Sikder made NBL Chairman

Mrs Monowara Sikder has been elected Chairperson of National Bank Limited for three years. 

The post of the National Bank chair fell vacant after Zainul Haque Sikder, a valiant freedom fighter and one of the pioneer industrialists of Bangladesh, had passed away on February 10 while taking treatment in Dubai.

Monowara Sikder, the wife of Zainul Haque Sikder, was unanimously elected the Chairperson of the National Bank Limited for three years at the 443rd board meeting on Wednesday.

Managing Director of National Bank Limited ASM Bulbul read the condolence motion in memory of the deceased Chairperson. A minute of silence was observed and a special prayer was held for the departed soul. Deputy Managing Director Shah Syed Abdul Bari conducted the prayer ceremony. 

Director Ron Haque Sikder informed the board of the desire of deceased Zainul Haque Sikder to elect Monowara Sikder as the Chairperson. Independent Director Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta proposed the name of Monowara Sikder as the Chairperson.  Other directors Parveen Haque Sikder MP, Rick Haque Sikder, Moazzam Hossain, Alhaj Khalilur Rahman, Zakaria Taher, Mabroor Hossain seconded the proposal. 

They recalled the contribution of Zainul Haque Sikder and expressed their firm determination to extend all cooperation to the newly elected Chairperson.

Monowara Sikder thanked all and urged them to work together to fulfil the dream of the late Chairman, Zainul Haque Sikder and declared the end of the meeting.
