Mohammedan’s Lokman placed on 2-day fresh remand

A Dhaka 0court on Monday placed Mohammedan Sporting Club director in-charge M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan on a two-day fresh remand in a case lodged under Narcotics Control Act, reports BSS.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Asheq Imam passed the order as investigation officer and sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station Qamrul Islam produced the accused before the court after end of his two-day remand and pleaded to place him on five-day fresh remand. Another Dhaka court on September 27 placed M Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan on a two-day remand in the case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sorafuzzaman Ansari passed the order as police produced Lokman before the court and pleaded to place him on five-day remand. Team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 arrested Lokman, also a director of Bangladesh Cricket Board, from Tejgaon Monipuripara home on the night of September 25, for running casino by renting a part of his club. RAB also recovered four bottles of foreign liquor from his home.

The elite crime busting agency filed the case against him with Tejgaon Police Station and handed him over to the police at 6 pm on September 26. RAB sources said Lokman in the primary interrogation confessed earning crores from the casino in Mohammedan club and deposited the money in two Australian bank accounts.
